Diazepam is a pharmaceutical drug better
known as Valium and diazepam is known less as a central
nervous system depressant. Diazepam is prescribed by
doctors to treat anxiety and stress attacks and panic
behaviors. Working to slow down the communicating neurotransmitters,
diazepam decreases brain activity by increasing gamma-aminobutyric
acid (GABA) activity which in turn inhibits communication
among the brain cells. If you are one of the many who
is suffering from dependency on diazepam, you probably
are not interested in clinical information about it.
You probably just want to know what you can do to get
off diazepam all together and get the life you once
had or at least the life you would like to have.
If you find that you are taking way more
than the prescribed dosage of diazepam, you may have
a problem of physical dependence on the drug. If you
find that you have several different doctors who prescribe
diazepam but they aren't aware you are seeing other
doctors, you are addicted to diazepam. If you go to
different pharmacies in other cities or have ever thought
about or actually have forged or changed a prescription
to get more diazepam than was prescribed- you are addicted.
You need to know that you are not alone.
The United States government agency on drug abuse estimates
that over 4 million people used prescription drugs in
a manner that was not consistent with medical purposes
in 1999.
If you are one of these people who have
discovered that you cannot control your need for diazepam
on your own we hope that you will call us. We are Scripts
and in 2002 we opened another facility dedicated to
serving individuals dependent on prescription medications
such as diazepam. Our new facility is quite luxurious
and is meant to be a classy get-away from the troubles
of chemical dependency where the focus can be on developing
new behaviors. Our on staff physician will ease the
pain of withdrawal while licensed counselors guide you
through a personalized treatment plan.
